Stephanie Amekuedi, CBS
Stephanie is the Founder and serves as the Executive Director at Nourish & Thrive. As a wife and mother of 5, Stephanie's lived experiences have garnered a passion for helping in the fight toward breastfeeding equity and helping end the Black maternal health crisis. Stephanie works with local nonprofits, a breastfeeding peer counselor and Council member for LLL USA. Stephanie is a the owner of a perinatal health business where she teaches breastfeeding classes and is a pre and postnatal yoga teacher. Stephanie's passion is to create safe spaces for Black birthing people to have positive perinatal experiences.
Shalanda Vann, APRN, FNP-C, IBCLC
Shalanda serves as a dedicated member of the board. As a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, Shalanda brings a wealth of clinical expertise to the boardroom, with an extensive background in Emergency Services, Family Medicine, and Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as a personal history of breastfeeding her three children including twins. Her current practice in primary care as a Family NP is a testament to her commitment to holistic patient care and her passion for women's health, emphasizing breastfeeding and lactation medicine, perinatal , postpartum care, and menopause. Shalanda’s fervor for advancing women's health issues is matched by her dedication to fostering health equity and ensuring that high-quality care is accessible to all individuals, regardless of their backgrounds.
Clemente Love
Clemente is an experienced, certified doula and certified lactation professional who has dedicated over nine years to supporting families through birth, breastfeeding, and early parenthood. With expertise in evidence-based practices, Clemente serves as a compassionate guide for families, helping them feel empowered and confident in their unique journeys. Currently supporting the Texoma community, Clemente brings both heart and knowledge to each family’s experience.
In addition to serving on the Nourish & Thrive board, Clemente holds roles in several organizations, including La Leche League USA, DONA International, and the United States Lactation Consultants Association. Clemente’s work is deeply rooted in a commitment to empowerment, authenticity, and community building and is further supported by their service on the National Committee for Educational Development with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
Clemente’s holistic approach to client care and community engagement is fueled by a passion for fostering a supportive, inclusive environment for families of all backgrounds.
Ashley Mazzanti
Ashley serves as the Treasurer and lives in San Antonio, TX with her spouse and 4 children . She has a BS in Biology from the University of Texas at San Antonio and has devoted many years as a volunteer with several Non-Profit organizations over the years. Ashley has been a lactivist since her oldest child was born. Normalizing human milk feeding, supporting families to reach their goals and bringing awareness to all the ways human infants can receive human milk is a passion that has become a daily way of life for Ashley
